Wealthy IPS officers in Kerala
Aluva ASP Mr. Rahul R. Nair is the richest among the 29 IPS officers from Kerala whose Immovable Property Returns are published on the website of Ministry of Home Affairs. He has a family property worth Rs. 7.45 crore in Kozhikode. The other crorepatis among the 29 are ADGP South-zone P.Chandrasekhar with Rs. 1.7 crore, Kochi City Police Commissioner Mr. M.R.Ajith Kumar with Rs. 1.45 crore and ADGP (Training), Mr. S.Pulikeshi with Rs. 1.03 crore worth immovable family properties. Trissur Commissioner Mr. P. Vijayan and his wife and former Ernakulam District Collector Dr. Beena IAS jointly owns two properties in Kakakkanad, both purchased for Rs. 52 lakh in 2006 from Apple A Day builders which is now in a controversy. IPR of 85 IPS officers from the state, including the DGP, Mr. Jacob Punnoose are ‘not available’ on the website. The DGP, as well as many other IPS officers said that they had submitted the statement to the Chief Secretary in time. All civil service officers should file the IPR before January 15 every year. It is from this year onwards that the statements are published on the website. The wealth of Mr. Rahul includes two agricultural lands with a house in each at Kozhikode, all owned by his father and grandfather. ADGP Mr. Chandrasekhar owns a house in Palakkad, a flat in Ernakulam and lands in Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram, which are either inherited or purchased. Inherited landed properties in the name of his wife in Thiruvananthapuram and Trissur districts makes the Kochi city police commissioner rich. Mr. Pulikesi owns 18 landed properities in Tanjavoor worth around Rs. 30 lakh and two houses worth Rs. 33 lakh each at Thiruvananthapuram and Tanjavur and a third house at Kanyakumari worth Rs 2.03 lakh. The properties are either purchased by him or inherited. The other rich IPS officers include Idukki SP George Varghese and Kerala Books and publications society MD Mr. Mohammed Yasin- Rs. 90 lakh each, KSRTC MD, Mr. Yogesh Gupta – Rs. 89 lakh, NIA IG Loknath Behera – Rs. 86 lakh and chief vigilance officer of BEL, Bangalore, Mr. M.N.Krishnamoorthy – Rs. 75 lakh. Some of the IPS officers including former DGP and BSF director general, Mr. Raman Srivastava, had not mentioned the present value of their assets.
